Missing torque converter cover

When changing the oil, a couple of days ago, I discovered the plastic torgue converter cover was gone. Apparently it broke off. I ordered a new one, but until that arrives, will driving the car in the rain (forecast for today) do any harm?

Any Transmission shop can replace it for about $25. It is a common part.

My stock one got ripped to shreds after the torque converter split open. Haven't ran one in 4 years driving through rain and snow.

I just tore mine off my 4x4 toy over the weekend. - think of it this way, if I can put my trans underwater(vent hose is inside top of dash) and not have any issues, with or without that silly little guard, do you think rain is gonna hurt it?

The cover keeps rocks and dirt out. There's always a possibiliy of a rock getting up and damaging the input seal or flexplate/ring gear but the chance is very slim. Water isn't going to hurt anything. The cover isn't a waterproof seal.

My car is strip only and has never had a cover.

- it is not a bad thing to have one on, but if it's gone it's not the end of the world. I know of at least 2 that have never had on in over 50k miles. - Mine got ripped via the flywheel because it bent from being barried in the mud. - It then got barried again trying the same hole(glutton for punishment, I know...). Barried under mud and whatever other crapola and no issues. - Not that you couldn't stuff some rock in there just right and hurt something, just that it's not liable to happen.
