Tranny won't shift

Yeah, so i just got done taking the engine and tranny out of my '88 Z28 in order to put a crankshaft in. Now that its all back together and the fluids are all up to par, it doesn't want to shift until about 4000 rpm and then it slams itself into gear.

I was told that I need to adjust the linkage between the transmission and the throttle body, but how exactly do I do that?

Thanks guys.

*Oh yeah, its a 700-R4, but all of you already knew that.

Check fluid level, and make sure that the TV cable is setup correctly.

At WOT the TV cable should be tight or a max of 1/16" play. Start from here.......
