What stall speed?
I have an LT1 355 with a Combination Motorsports cam (224/236 duration, .536"/.555" lift, 114 lsa). The car is going to see about 95% street duty and 5% track time. I'm looking for something that does ok at the track but streetability is more important to me than a couple tenths in the quarter mile. I know this cam would work good with a big stall but right now I would like to keep it as low as possible. What would you guys suggest?

2000-2400 stall should be right.

What brand and diameter converter are you using? a QUALITY 9.5" converter, like those built by Andre at EDGE Racing Converters , will drive like stock untill you mash the gas, even with stalls in the 3300 range.

My 4,000 stall from Edge doesn't drive quite like stock but it's still pretty damn good. I can putt around town at 2,000 rpm or unleash hell by stepping on the loud pedal.
Coach Hawk, were you able to get one from Andre with a lockup?

It's a Yank model 2800 TT 10" stall converter. Before this car I've owned nothing but standard transmissions so I'm new to autos. If the auto was on its way out would it feel like the TC never locked up, because sometimes when I get on it in first gear the car feels like it doesn't go anywhere and it bounces off the rev limiter. I guess I thought it was the TC's fault but if this one should feel normalish driving around town than I guess it probably is the trans.

Are you sure that you're just not spinning in 1st?
Check the fluid level and while you're doing that, smell it to check for a burnt smell.

Yep, I'm sure it's not spinning, no smoke, squeel, or go. Although when it feels like the trans catches good, all I can do is spin through 1st and 2
I fixed a leak coming from the dip stick about 2 weeks ago and I overfilled it a little, but it's hard to get a good reading to tell just how much. It is redish and I haven't noticed a burnt smell so far, but there is a slight whine that gets louder as RPMs go up.
