V6 auto. and V8 T-5?
V6 auto. and V8 T-5?
Okay, here's my situation. I found a member that is willing to trade my complete auto setup for his complete T-5 setup. The problem is my setup is a 2.8l and 3.1l both with automatics. His setup is a v8 with a T-5. First off, will these interchange? I asked my buddy, and he said that the T-5 won't work and that I dont have a 700-R4. (News to me, I could've sworn that I have one) So, if I don't have a 700-R4, what do I have? I was also planning on buying a B&M Mega Shifter, which if I don't have a 700-R4 means this shifter won't work, right? Can someone please help me? I guess I should've done more research.
Nobody has an answer? Well can somebody please at least tell me what kind of transmission came in an automatic 88 2.8l Camaro or an automatic 92 3.1l Camaro? Can I at least use the B&M Mega Shifter with my car? Thanks.

do a search in the V6 Boards for specifics but no they wont interchange. V6s used in camaros/Firebirds use what GM calls there small bolt pattern, V8s use what GM calls there Large bolt pattern. the small bolt pattern looks kinda like a triangle, and the large bolt pattern looks kinda like a half circle.
The B&M Megashifter should work with your application. You do in fact have a 700r4, but it's completely different from the V8 700r4. The shifter should work on either trans though. Oh yeah, a V8 T5 won't work with a 6 cylinder either, but it's way easy to locate 6 cylinder T5's. The V8 ones are a lot harder to come by.
