Stupid Question (posi-traction)
Does an 1986 camaro iroc have a positraction rear end. I could probably look it up but im too lazy, and my cars up on blocks so i can't do a burnout and check it out.

It might, it might not...
Being that its a lazy LG4 i highly doubt it!
Since its up on blocks just pull the cover off the diff and look. If you see just a couple gears inside the pumpkin its open, if you see some clutch packs and springs its limited slip. Also, its probably way past due to have the oil changed anyways!

Car: Yes
Engine: Usually
Transmission: Sometimes
Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
You can't "check" by "doing a burnout".
Since the car is up on stands, you're already about 3/4 of the way to checking, in the most reliable way possible. The only reliable way in fact.
Take off the cover and look.
If you haven't changed the fluid lately, then it's past due anyway. Go change the fluid. And while you're catching up on the overdue routine maintenance, make a point of looking at what's in the carrier.
And as an added bous, observe the gears while you're at it; so we won't all have to suffer through yet another "what gears do I have" post.

Yes, the burnout method is useless...
An open diff WILL bake both tires if you put enough power through it, even on a gutless LG4 someone might have welded up the spider gears and you would still bake both tires.
A limited slip diff could only burn one tire if the clutch packs are worn out.
You would just be better off guessing if you have LS or not!
