T5 2nd gear problem

I was wondering if anyone else has ever had a problem with 2nd gear sometimes being difficult to engage? Could it be a synchro issue or is it a defect with these transmissions? I'm thinking of basically replacing the synchro's for 2nd gear, unless someone has any other ideas.

Thanks in advance

Car: Yes
Engine: Usually
Transmission: Sometimes
Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
Could it be a synchro issue
Probably not.

About 99.999% of the time, "hard shifting" is REALLY a clutch problem, not a transmission problem. It might show up as a transmission symtpom, but that doesn't mean you can fix it by working on the transmission.

Now, crashing into 2nd, that might be a transmission problem. But not "hard shifting".

The main suspect would be the pilot bearing.
