700-R4 TO TH-350 QUES....HELP!!

Ok guys ive been in so much depression cause the only thing i need in my 82 z28 is a good tranny... so i right now have a 700-r4 which is very bad and im thinking in replacing it or rebuilding it..my friend got me a good deal on a th-350 but there are diffrences on them so i wanted to know what will i need to install all neccesary parts for it?? THANKS

Well some of the bigger differences are the mount changes, depending if its a long or short shaft tranny you may have to move the crossmember which isnt a big deal.

Driveshaft will have to be lengthened or shortened depending on the tailshaft length of the tranny.

The TH350 also has no provisions for a torque arm, but no worries, their are a couple of kits out there that will give you ann the hardware to fix that.

As for other goodies, the TH350 uses a detent cable not a TV cabe like the 700r4. You may have to pick up a different cable to get the right length to work on your app, chances are the stock one on the tranny can be made to fit. You will have to run a vac line from a manifold vac source down to the modulator on the rear of the tranny, that acts somewhat like the TV cable did on the 700r4, basically lets the tranny know what the motor is doing. The stock shifter cable will work fine.
