some 700r4 issues :fixable or just junk
alright im not all to familair with the internals of a 700 but hopefully one of u guys are and can help out with a few quirks in my trans.
since ive installed my turbo setup ive gone threw the original trans and a junkyard trans, right now im on a rebuilt trans but im having a few issues
#1 no upshift from 2nd gear at wot
if i slightly back off the throttle it will shift, otherwise it will just bounce off the revlimiter and not upshift
#2 if im cruising in 4th and go wot at a high enough mph were it should go into 3rd it downshifts to second and wont upshift
#3 every once in a while i get a really harsh conveter lockup in overdrive ? any ideas what this could be
some history on the trans
its a 89 v6 transmission 9.5 inch converter
it was rebuilt with a tci kit,has a b&m shiftkit,restalled stock converter 3k stall
the tv cable is properly adjusted
if ya need anymore info let me know
hopefully this is something as simple as a stuck valve in the valve bodie or something simialar

Send a PM to ProBuiltAutomatics. He can give the best advice available when it comes to 700r4's. He can also build you the best 700r4 money can buy if you decide to ditch your existing one for an even better one. Just my .02.

#1 and #2 are both quirks of factory transmissions. only vettes and a few IROCs had the full throttle upshift valving. with most 700s, anything over 3/4 throttle will cause it to kickdown/not upshift. there are kits you can get to allow WOT upshift.
#3 could be a sticking valve or it could have been modified from the place you bought it depending on how they rebuilt it.
but i agree with Pat, get with ProBuiltAutomatics(Dana). he can talk you through this in more detail.

Sounds like a valve body issue. Somethings sticking/not done properly.
What servo is in it? Stockers won't hold much power. Also, what size boost valve? - TCI and B&M aren't very good companies for good 700r parts.

its got stock servos in it,i had my uncle rebuild it for me with the tci kit,and i put the b&m shift kit in it,i forget the size of the boost valve but its whatever comes with the b&m transpack
the spare trans i have is a low milage stocker,i figure ill throw in a transgo kit,and a set of servos if i cant fix the one thats in the car now.
if i had the money id just buy a built one,but right now im scrambling to get my twin turbo motor finished up before my daughter is born in april.
any chance that the converter could be causing my problems

Unless the converter is going out and spitting trash in the vb, no, it's not your issue.
Did anyone go through the vb and check valve tolerances or put a decent kit in it? - Probably the first thing I would do would be to get a billet intermediate servo and either a transgo or superior "shift kit". The B&M kit does nothing to improve the vb functions, it just bumps trans pressure and takes all cushion out of the shifts. - The servo is around $80-$100, the superior shift improver kit is like $40-$50. Money well spent, and it can all be carried over to another trans if the situation arises.

That only applies to the 3-4 shift. The 1-2 and 2-3 shifts will still happen at WOT.

ME 2. I figured its just crappy. Plus getting it rebuilt cost a fortune.....something like $1400 and I can buy a new 700r4 from ProBuilt for that so I decide not to rebuild.....but I do NOT have $1400 to throw at a tranny.....with me being on my first job and first car and all. I do have $2500 to throw at it this winter.....but that $2500 is already gone in parts I need so this way no 1 steals my car. Like alarm ($800) distance sensitive (walk by it by 1 foot and the car beeps) so dont park by me. Also new doors locks and IGNITION plus battery manifold exhaust gas and tons others. Ah well I'll just BREAK it and wait until next summer...or ICC (Income Tax Check) I've racked up $500 already.....WOOHOO. but I dont know when I get it soooo SHYT.

forgot to update but a corvette servo fixed my 2-3 upshift problem, seems to shift a lil to harsh though,
now i gota worry about breaking the dam 10 bolt
converter lockup is getting worse though its almost as harsh as my 1-2 shift, and i really need to get the wot 3-4 valve
