what type of axle

i have no clue almsot what so ever about the difference in rear axels, and i was comming hear to ask some of you guys that have had exsperience in this to tell me what exactly would be the right axel for me. hear is what im wanting to use it for....DRIFTING! and dont laugh im seriouse. now someone told me i cant use my stock axel because something about a "C" clip and it will knock off from the abuse drifting will have on it. now i was on spohn performance website http://www.spohn.net/category.cfm?categoryid=1063 and they have a 3 or 4 rear axels to choose from that will fit in the 3rd gens. now i dont know the difference between 9 boldt or 12 and which is used for what or which is stronger. if someoen had any other axels they think would be better for me tell me about them and the make and modle of it. i was also wanting to get rear disk breaks with an axel so if anyone that knows a well built axel that they think is right for me and comes with a rear disk break option tell me about it please, and maybe even a locker so i can get both wheels to spin evenly or i guess i could buy that seperatly.

Your cheapest option would be to find a used Borg-Warner 9 bolt Australian rearend. These came stock in a lot of the 85-89 Irocs and T/A's. They use a bearing retainer with 4 bolts at the end of the axle tubes, therefore eliminating the use of "c" clips like the ten bolt rears. Also a large percentage of them came factory with posi and disc brakes. If you have deep pockets, you could always go aftermarket and buy a brand new Moser 12 bolt or Ford 9" that are custom made for thirdgen f-bodies, but be prepared to spend roughly $2k or better for one of these. The available factory ratios for the 9 bolts were 2.77, 3.27, and 3.45. You can also buy a 3.70 ratio ring and pinion from various aftermarket vendors.
