I had my t5 behind a 357(+.040) with a comp XE roller 236-242 @.050 ported 69 302 heads 202 160 performer intake, 650 Holley vac. sec., headman shortys and y pipe, launched at the track around RPM on stickys without problems, but i am a lucky person from what some tell me, how long it will live behind my vortec 383 is another question.
If you do a search, there's been tons of threads on here regarding this question. It'll be debated until the end of time. The only real sound advice is to avoid powershifting and high rpm clutch dumps. Those are the two things that'll kill a T5 in short order. Guys with stock 305's have broken them, and others have used them successfully behind 400 HP small blocks, so it's a complete roll of the dice. As long as the trans is in good shape and you drive it sensibly, it should live for quite a while. On the other hand....
