The TransGo Shift kit comes with all the necessary instructions. If you have never done this before, then plan on a good part of the day to do this. You will need to drop the pan, valve body, & the 2-4 servo. I would recommend the modified version of the TransGo Performance Shift kit, this will give you smooth part throttle shifts, while still having firm WOT shifts. If you have any questions on this let me know?

A warning about the TransGo shift kit:

Their instructions assume a certain level of knowledge about transmissions in general, and about the variations in 700s specifically. In order to get it to work right, you MUST be able to properly identify what version of all sorts of arcane parts is present in your transmission. Otherwise, it's totally trial-and-error to get the right combo of springs, valves, etc. It can be very frustrating for a transmission novice to get it right, even though for someone that's a pro, it's a bulletproof installation.

I STRONGLY suggest you get the ATSG manual for the 700, and study it in detail, until you have every picture, every page, every part name, MEMORIZED. It is entirely possible to install the shift kit wrong, and DESTROY either the transmission or some other expensive part, if you don't get it right. Not a good idea to leave anything to chance.

http://www.bulkpart.com/Merchant2/me...ode=4L60-700R4 see the "Technical Manuals" page

You may also want to buy a governor spring & weight kit, to have that stuff on hand. You'll probably need it. That's how you tune the 700's shift timing. You DO NOT change it by adjusting the TV cable differently. You set the TV cable where it belongs and LEAVE IT THERE, then change the governor to adjust how it shifts.

Of course, once you DO get it right, the kit is a HUGE improvement over the stock programming, for our uses. Few of us expect our transmission to shift unnoticeably, like our grandma might want; in fact one of the most common complaints dealers get about new cars is "harsh shifting" (where they somehow have to soften up the shift to cure the "complaint"). Which is of course EXACTLY what a shift kit gives: crisp, snappy, "abrupt" shifts.

do i have to change the servo out for a different one? and i read that there is drilling how much is required on the modified trans go kit? is it easy to mess up the drilling or is it simple and how big of a hole?

Yes, you have to drill the valve body. The drill sizes vary, (.093 - .155) but I supply most of them. I replace the steel checkballs with the Torlon type. They are much easier on the valve body plate. Just read the instructions closely, I mark out all of the unnecessary (not needed) steps to make it a cleaner install. Call me if you have any questions on this. 909 7951876 Dana.

I HIGHLY Suggest you get the Trans Go kit, as they provide an instructional video with teh kit. On a scale of difficulty, 10 being hardest its maybe a 4, not too hard at all.

When it comes to the checkballs, you just want to drop the valve body straight down, so that they dont roll away, that is all, and when you put the valve body back on, you stick the ***** in with vaseline to secure them for the time being.

I definately recommend you do this, so far its the best money ive put in my car in terms of "Fun factor".

All you have to do is watch the video 2-3 times before hand and it's easy as pie.

Edit:

Oh yeah and Dana, I remember you helping me out with this when I had an issue with my kit. ^^ Great help right here too, he'll hook you up if you have any problems. (My car wouldnt shift into gear, and it turns out i didnt install one of the snaprings fully, and one of the valves fell out of the tranny and into the pan. Easy fix though)
