whats the best rear for about 500hp to crank?
i'm going to try and build a 500hp 383 or i'm going to try and get the most out of the motor that i can, i need to know what would be my best and cheapest rear? it's got a bw 9bolt and 3.7 richmond gears but i would like to use a rear with 3.9-4.11 gears and i need it to handle as much hp as possible. so what will be my least expensive but best route? i plan to launch the car with drag radials so i know i'm going to need a decent rear.

9 bolt would be fine with 26" slicks should work out alright
if you want 4.11 gears, then it's 9" and $2300-2800 time. I'm going with exotic performance out of Indiana for my 9" rear end. pricey, but will hold up no problem for what I'm throwing at the car.

so i guess i would probably destroy the 9bolt with 4.11's? and if i installed a spool and some other aftermarket parts in a 10bolt would it hold with 4.11's? i don't have the money to buy an aftermarket 9" or 12bolt so i'm trying to see if a 9bolt or 10bolt would work.

Simplest answer is to run what you have. When it breaks, decide how much you want to spend to put in something strong enough to handle the power. Complicated answer is to buy something that's an overkill. Spend the money now on a 12 bolt or 9" and never worry about it again.
I ran very high 11's at 117 mph on a 3.27 geared 9 bolt before upgrading to a beefed up 10 bolt then finally to a 9" when I put a transmission with a transbrake in.
An inexpensive 9" option is to buy a bolt in housing package for about $1000. You supply your own center section and brakes.

I was putting over 500 to the wheels through a beefed up 10 bolt. Like I already mentioned. Run what you got until it breaks. 10 bolts have been broken by 305's and have also survived behind big blocks.

i never consider going from a 9 bolt to a 10 bolt an "upgrade" if anything it's wasted monetary movement. Keep the 9 bolt how it is with 3.70s and save for a 9" eventually, otherwise you're tossing $700 into the 9 bolt for 4.10s once they're installed instead of putting that towards a 9"
