manual / auto swap

I am new here so go easy. I just bought a 1987 Firebird 2.8 l 5 speed manual with engine troubles and another engine (2.8 l with auto trans) from another 87 firebird. Is there any problems just swapping engines directly? Would I also have to change computers to match the new engine even though I am keeping the 5 speed in the car?
I appreciate any and all information.
Thanks

No problem. Do the swap, you shouldn't need to do anything at all with the computer as it has no influence on the tranny. It doesn't care what trans is connected.

You'd have to change the computers if you were going the opposite direction since the automatic requires the right computer to control the overdrive lockup operation of the torque convertor, but a manual trans works just fine with either computer.
