So my trans is shot and I dont have $900 to rebuild. I'm going to the yards on the weekend to buy a trans ($40)there and hope it will hold up for a few months. This will work as I am currently bone stock. Now my issue is that I currently do not have my tools on me and wont for a few weeks (Moved and they are in a POD) and my camaro is sleeping in a shop. What size sockets and other tools will I need to remove a trans out of the yard. (Auto and I'm taking the torque converter as well). Thanks

depending on the year, the tranny to engine bolts are either 9/16 or 14 mil. the u-joint bolts are 3/8 (to pull the driveshaft for tranny removeal) and the torque converter bolts are also 9/16.
cheers!!

I'de just go get a cheap twenty dollar tool kit at wal-mart or somewhere that should get ya thru, chances are your gonna need sae and metric so get one with both in it, then when your done with it throw it in your trunk for backup later down the road, probably be cheaper than buying all the tools individually too. Grab a couple extra extensions and a universal joint, some of those bellhousing bolts are real fun getting out. Just an idea for ya, good luck!

Thanks both of you, Good idea on the walmart kit I'm bringing a few friends with me 3-4 give or take, all 9 times my size, so getting those pesky bolts out will be their problems
