Kickdown Valve?

I heard if I change out the carb on my 85 Z28, the kickdown "valve" wont function right until I do something with it...

Anyone know what this person was trying to say?
For one, they did say it has a kickdown valve and not a cable...

Re: Kickdown Valve?

they must have gotten mixed up. it is the cable or cable bracket you need to change to keep the cable geometry correct. for example....holley and edlebrock carbs use a special bracket for the cable.

Haha, Do they have this bracket available or do only certain companies make it?
Thanks man, Joe

**EDIT**
Nvm, I found some stuff on their site http://www.holley.com/20-95.asp

Re: Kickdown Valve?

Holley & Edelbrock both have brackets for their carbs to work in conjunction with a 700r4 detent cable.

- on 700r4, it is not a "kickdown cable". It is a detent cable. It controls the TV valve, which controls the line pressure inside tha trans, which translates to varied pressure behind the governor, which controls up/down shifts. If it is not properly set, it can cause the destruction of your transmission. - make sure you get the proper bracketry for the cable mount as well as the proper bracket to attach the end of the cable to the carb linkage. Then be sure to properly adjust it.(instructions of which have been posted many times, search it out)
