problem!! can someone help??
86 firebird (5.0, t5) for some reason is reving higher when i go to shift into the next gear, i was thinking it was the carb linkage, but my clutch seems to be acting weird, like when i pull into a parking spot and shove the clutch in and come to a stop then shift into reverse it grinds, also it seems like i have to put the clutch all the way to the floor before it disengages, when i bought the car the guy told me the clutch was new. also ive had a problem with the transmission lifting up under acceleration, could that effect my clutch? any help would be great!
and if it is the clutch, anyone got a new or slightly used stocker?

It almost sounds like you have a bad mount maybe, and it seems like if a mount was bad and allowing your transission to shift around it might cause some extra wear on your clutch (I'm not completely sure but it sounds logical)
And the part about it revving up, your throttle linkage is probably just a little sticky or something!

yea ur transmission mount is shot put its easy to fix it. u'll have to pay like 25 to 35 bucks on a new mount. what u have to do is lift the car on one side or both (it doesn't matter). take a jake and put it under the car and lift it just a little bit. then u have to take off the center bolt. after that uncrew the four bolts on each side of the crossmember. when u have done that the jake should be holding the trans. when the cross member is off u should see the bushing for the trans mount. there should only be one or two bolt conecting to the trans and thats all.
----------
o yea for ur clutch it sounds like its about to go. if it revs high when changing to a higher gear it means it sliping. hey i have a quetion for u, if u drive ur car for a while that involves u to shift gear ever couple minutes like a high gear to a low gear. then come to a complete stop, does ur car starts to smell like something is burnning ??

i havent smelled anything burning, but the trans mount sounds right, the shifter lifts straight up, so its got to be what your talking about.

yea....for know just go and change the trans mount on your car. when your done, go and drive around and see if the clutch is slipping or not. most of the time, if the clutch is bad you can smell the clutch burning
