Hi I own a v6 2.8L Automatic 1987 Firebird. I was driving one day and I decided to dropshift my car and when that happened it messed something up!! Everytime and press gas hard i hear and feel a very loud thump in the transmission like i hit a rock or something. I wasnt worried cause i was planning on swapping with a manual tranny. Im just wondering how much would it cost to do a complete swap at a shop and how much would it cost if i did it completley?

 

the tranny mount busted they are very cheap and easy to install i just replaced mine 6 bucks at autozone,the tailhousing is hitting the floor panel when you hit it.

 

a shop will do it for you but you pay a premium. With that said I would do it my self it's not hard but you have to piece it together or get parts from a donor car. pedals, correct speedo gear, I think different crossmember. All kinds of stuff. all the holes for the pedals are there though. I think we had to do some cutting on the tranny tunnel. Been a long time though. unless you have the cash for it now. I would just buy a mount for it. My 02
