Speedo shut down
I just replaced the stock 2.73 gears with a set of 3.73 gears. When i hit 115 on the speedo the car shuts down like it did before however im only going 70 or 80. i know this is because i changed the gear ratio back there but is there any way to bypass this with out switching the speedo gears.
thanks zig

Re: Speedo shut down
im no expert with tbi cars, but im assuming you have one? you need to supply a bit of info from people to help you. some if not all TBI motor, as far as i know have a speed limiter, that i assume is what is causing your car to turn off or whatever. you need to disable that to get thing to work the way you want. i think changing speedo gears will just correct the speedometer and nothing else. you should change the speedo gears anyway its real easy with an electric speedo, what do you have?

Re: Speedo shut down
It is electronic with wires coming out of the tail shaft instead of a cable. I didnt know it being a tbi car made that much of a difference i thought they made most of the changes in 93
