afew questions before i start buying parts
1. anyone{ person} or website that sells a kit for this swap?
2. im also planing on converting to a ls1 when i get the money, are there any different parts i need to get ,to hook this up to this ls1 that would be different from a mostly stock 350ci?
3. any suggestions with the part i should use? like perferance? good companys vs ones i should stay away from?
4. i hear the 93-97 t56 is the one i want, the 93 i here is some ****. what year should i look for ?

6, im not sure what my gear ratio is now ill have to look at the code..but will i want to switch em up to a higher gear ratio?
7. with me having a mecanical cable for mygagues i know i need vss or some sort of thing like that but would it just better toget new gagues that have vss and just change it from 40 to 4000 signals amin?
if you think i dont know what im talking about , chances are your right i learnbetter when ido the work and not by reading how to do it.

Re: t56 swap...
I believe the input shafts are different between the LS1 and LT1 T56's. It's not just as easy as swapping the bellhousings. Basically people say you're better off getting the transmission that's correct for you motor than trying to convert one to the other.
Don't get a 93 T56. I don't know why, but everyone says not to. 94 to 97 is alright.
With the T56's double overdrive you can run 4.10's and do alright with gas mileage, so I've heard.

Re: t56 swap...
With a cable driven speedo you're better off getting the aftermarket T56 from Tremec, since it comes with the tailshaft housing that works with the stock T5 speedo setup.
However it will not work with the LS1 T56 either. If you really want to go to the dark side, then do the engine and trans at once, much simpler and cheaper.

Re: t56 swap...
I'm considering the same LS1/T56 swap for my '89 IROC, after a failed bid at a 2000 Z28. Since I'm looking for the same information as you, I thought I'd share an article I found. It sure helps me, and I hope it does the same for anyone else that reads it.

Re: t56 swap...
The "dark side" is the LS1 engine. Havent you heard from the Star Wars movies to "beware the power of the dark side" ? Well, you have to beware the power of the LS1. It will lead you astray and make you do bad things, like hack up a good thirdgen to install it. The LS1 is a great engine, but it doesnt belong in a thirdgen that came with TPI. I can run circles around many LS1 engines with my TPI. (and many LS1's can run circles around me.)
If you want an LS1, go buy a car that came with one. Just my opinion.

Re: t56 swap...
ive thought about just building up my 350 ,unless im compleetly rebuilding it i dont see why i should build up motor with 140xxx on it , yeh its running kinda strong still and it would be cheaper in the short run.
yes i saw starwars im not that yong.
mabe i will buy an ls1 car and just uses it as a donnor {yes i know this isnt wat you ment.}
why would you say hack up?? is your 3rd gen compleetly stock? if im gona be doing this swap im going to make it as tastfull as possible and not a hack job
back to the topic can anyone help me?
