not your usual noise, maybe valve buzz?
I have rebuilt my 700 with a list of good parts. anyway it drives and shifts great but right after the rebuid i got a sound like metal against metal knid of noise only in reverse and in manual 1st and 2nd gear. I figured out that all these positions have max line pressure. put a gauge on it and pressures are all ok. can list the pressures if anyone wants them. also if you pull the tv cable running at idle it will sometimes make this sound too. does anyone know what the pressure regulator buzz noise sounds like? does it come and go? I also notice this noise if i am driving in 1st or 2nd gear and then hit a bump like though an intersection then it makes this noise for a couple seconds like the the bump jarred somthing. I have never heard the pump buzz noise that the atg bullitin says. only other thing that i can think of is when tranny goes to max line pressure, all the hydraulic force pushes on the torque converter and flywheel. the flywheel maybe flexing and slightly touching my starter pinion. I am working on moving the starter around and away from the flywheel but will have to grind metal to do this, so havn't yet. I did replace the pressure regulator valve and spring, (got it from probuilt). .500 boost valve, bigger low reverse valve, and upgraded to 10 vane pump rotor and hub with transgo pump high rpm spring.
any help would be appriciated. thank, Luke.

Re: not your usual noise, maybe valve buzz?
Just thought that I would share what I finally found about the weird noise. It was definataly a metal aon metal chiping type noise. The hyraulic force in the tranny pushes just enough pressure on the converter to flex the flywheel when at max line pressure in manual 1 and 2 and reverse gear positions. Then the flywheel was rubbing on the starter pinion. Was a hard noise to locate. Put some blue dye on the flywheel's front teeth and drove it. Then checked for wear, was rubbing about 100 degrees worth of rotation. so I took just a little touch of metal off the flywheel with a die grinder. quiet now.
