please help this doesnt seem right

Alright i think something is wrong with my tranny because when i get hard onto the gas it wont shift into a gear untill i hit 7K rpm's which is redlining so i normally let off let it shift then get back on it...

Also when im cruising at 70-75 mph my rpm's are right around 4K and this really doesnt seem right....

I just got the car about two months ago and I dont know all about cars but im not a complete idiot...

Does anyone know what either of these problems could be?

Actually, I know what both could be....

Your tach reads WAY WAY WAY high, like these always do when they fail. That's how they fail... they read high. I have about 4 or 5 of them, every one reads high except for the one in my car (or at least, it read right when I put it in there....)

See my signature for helpful advice on understanding multiple defects that seem to have some connection with each other.

I dont think the tach is wrong though because at idle its at 750 which doesnt seem high at all, but if it was the throttle valve what would i have to do to fix that

my tach is off in my iroc and it also idles at 750. i know because ive hooked it up to a scanner. my car at 3/4 throttle doesnt shift into second until 6000 rpm. the scanner showed a progressive increase in error as the rpms went up. nopw i dont know what engine you have but my 91 rs had the 50 tbi engine and it idled at 450 rpm fully warmed up(according to the tach and i firmsly believe that tach was in perfect order)

Imagine your tach has a 33% linear error. Your indicated 750 RPM idle then is actually more like a still-reasonable 600 RPM, but your indicated 7000 RPM shift point is only more like 4600 RPM in reality.

As said before, give your TV Cable a check.

Re: please help this doesnt seem right

His tach reads wrong when driving down the road.
TV Cable
won't cause that. Therefore it is not
the simplest explanation that fits all the facts
because it leaves critical facts un-accounted-for.

Stick with that little truism right there; your life will be far more productive in the long run, because when something goes wrong, you'll go right straight to the problem, instead of wasting your time with a bunch of worthless and expensive "maybe it's this, maybe it's that" stupidity.
