Horrible shifting 700R4
I have some issues with my 700.
1st it will not shift into second gear unless you hit about 3500 rpms. When it shifts, it shifts so hard the tires chirp and I am not even full throttling it.
Third shifts about the same RPM and 4th.
I do not understand what is happening.
I replaced the TV cable today. Pushed it all the way in, WOT for the clicks. Problem is still there.
I had someone WOT the pedal, I pushed the D button and pushed the sleeve in as tight as I could get it. No joy.
I dropped the transmission pan thinking the Throttle valve was sticking. Moves freely, spins freely , great return force.
So.... what now?

when did all this start happening? an overly tight tv cable will do that.
weak governor springs will do that. what did you change last?

Re: Horrible shifting 700R4
Everything was working great, then I decided to down shift my car manually and race around. Then those symptoms appeared.
I re-adjusted the TV cable and it worked again.
Next time I down shifted, the symptoms appeared again. This time I cannot make them normal. After replacing the TV cable.
I have put in a transgo shiftkit, so I could down shift and hold it in any gear so I like to use the function.

Re: Horrible shifting 700R4
think you may have stretched the throttle valve spring?
I'm in the same boat, been fighting my 700 for a while too...either i get late part throttle shifts but keep my detent abilities, or i loosen the cable for nice part throttle shifts, and loose detent.
gahhh.

I would take the governor out and inspect it. take you maybe 20 mins and you can eliminate it.

Re: Horrible shifting 700R4
It was stuck. Yesterday I dropped the pan and removed the TV valve assembly and cleaned it. Started the car and it fixed it half way.
Left the car running, disconnected the Tv cable and yanked it 20 times, readjusted TV cable... much better but not perfect. Losened the TV cable sleeve slightly and got it right on the money.
