need help with the wires for my 5 speed swap

i think the is the right forum.
some little things i could use a hand with. I'm working on my 5 speed swap and i need to get the wiring straightened out. i have the auto shifter out and i have 6 wires that went to the gear selector switch. now i know the purple and yellow is the neutral safety switch. now does anyone know offhand which of the remaining small wires were for the reverse lights and what do the other two do? next, under the dash by the pedals i have a connector coming out of my harness for the neutral safety switch again. do i just splice this in with the switch on the pedals? it does not make sense to me. its supposed to be a N/O circuit and this little connector was just floating down there by the pedals, and it wasn't hooked to anything, leaving the circuit open and never closing to start the car, but the car did start. will everything work out if i just splice it together or do i have to fish a couple wires to the shifter location?

and i know this should be in the classified board, but does anyone have or know where to get the retaining clip for the clutch pedal pushrod?

thanks

The neatral safety switch uses a patch cable. It's male to male. The switch itself is female. If you look under the dash on the driver's side up near the kick pannel you will see a female harness sitting there with the purple wire set. I cot my patch cable from the junkyard. There is no need to run wires from your neutral/park harness for your auto shifter to the safety switch. If you can not find a patch cable, you can just splice that female harness into the safety switch. Or wire in a toggle switch to that harness and remember to have it in neatral when you go to start it.

As for the backup light wires, I don't know off hand. My manuals are across town again. Look in the tech article section on the main page here at TGO. There is a write up on doing this swap. If I'm not mistaken, it has the colours of the wires listed.

The master cylinder rod retaining clip is up for debate. The typical one is a plastic part that pops on. I've heard Autozone sells them. My little brother couldn't find me one anywhere in town though. My pedal had the groove cut in it though like the brake pedal has. So I just popped the retaining clip for the brake pedal in myy 88 off and gave it to my 92's clutch pedal. It's a very tight fit. Almost never got it on but it will work.

I'm not sure how you got yours to start though without the switch hooked up or the auto shifter plugged in. Mine refused to crank unless one or the other was done.
