stock aluminum drive shaft limits

so I think I already know the answer to this, but I will ask anyways. I just put in an all new drivetrain in my '92 rs. it is a 383 HSR pushing about 460-470hp and about the same kind of torque. I had a stock 1LE aluminum drive shaft in the car and some how I think it would be a bad idea to run that shaft. I am not ever going to put slicks on, but some nice sticky street tires in about a 275 will find there way to the rear and I think I may be asking for trouble. thoughts? if it will be a problem, any suggestions for a light weight shaft? I know I can go CF, but $800 for shaft is pretty steep.

I'm not sure how much a stocker will take but ya know what...y chance it? there are 3 makers of replacement shafts for our cars for under $500. Spohn performance sells 2 shafts called extreme duty priced at $340 and "top gun" priced at $440. jegs sells the other made by inland empire priced at around $400. for the price it's cheap insurance and your better safe then sorry.

hmmmmm I like the price, but not the additional rotational mass. I think the "extreme duty" shaft is probably strong enough. anybody know where the limits on the "extreme duty" shaft are?

I use an LS1 aluminum DS, cheap on ebay and you WILL NOT break it. My friend in an 02 firehawk is pushing 600 and still using it with OEM U joints and all.

You will be fine with an LS1 DS.
