Clutch or linkage, maybe tranny?
Clutch or linkage, maybe tranny?
Hi Guys, My son just bought an 87 z28. The person that sold it to him told him that the clutch needs to be bled. The problem is that it will not go into gear unless the "road speed matches the engine speed" I asked my mechanic and he told me it sounds like a linkage issue. I know nothing about this stuff but I am going to start learning so I can share in this with my son. Can someone give me an idea of what it is going to take to get this fixed, my mechanic cannot look at it until late next week. Any help would be appreciated.......Thanks

well, your mechanic is right in a way
although the *linkage* in these cars are a hydraulic slave, and master setup
if it needs to be bled, there are various ways to do it, do a search and u should come up with some answers

would do the same thing if the clutch is burnt out also.
Though I did have issues with a used T5 that wouldn't go into gear. Never did figure it out.. brand new hydraulics and 2 clutches later ... I bought a wrecked 5 speed car and the T5 in that one worked perfect first time I threw it in.
