transmisson dipstick smoking

i noticed today that when i started my car and let it run for a couple seconds i had smoke coming out of the trans dipsticktube is this serious.

You may be very low on fluid I would check that first the bottom of the dipstick tube should be submerged so there should be no smoke coming out . Its not a good sign
