sucky 2-3 shift..
ok so before anyone warned me i put in a b&m transpak.. it seems to shift fine other than wot shifts are not quite as firm as i had hoped.. and the 2-3 shift isnt right. so it winds up fine and shifts at the speeds its supposed to but when accellerating at about halft throttle or so the rpms jump for a split second (about 300 or so) while shifting from 2 to 3. any thoughts on that? what part in the tranny controls the 2-3 shift?

I've had that problem for a year now. I put in the B&M shift kit in it and it improved it. Still, it does it.
I am not sure what to think of it. Some will dissmiss it and call it a clutch pack faliure but mine has been doing that for a year and hasnt failed yet. Hasn't gotten worse, but hasn't gotten better either.
This might have something to do with incorrect TV cable adjustment, governor maybe even the servo itself. I cleaned my valve body as well and it did not help. So... I am ordering a new TV cable, see if this helps.

could be the govenor isnt adjusted correctly, or the cluches are slipping... to improve this i would instal a larger servo... and boost valves to increase line pressure and clamping force... i went with billet 35% larger than corvette servo for the 1-2-3 shift and the billet 50% larger than stock overdrive servo and the low reverse boost valve and .500 mega boost valve... and this wat a huge improvment over the transgo shift kit and corvette servo... it helped my 2-3 shift alot. adjust ur cable and u might wanna get a servo calibration kit, but increasing line pressure and cramping force would help if the pack is 2-3 clutch pack is slipping

i see what your saying about the clutches maybe slipping , but it didnt do this before installing the shift kit a couple days ago.. thoughts?? my tv cable adjuster is kinda messed up i think (the button is real hard to push and i dont think its ratcheting out when you hit the throttle like its supposed to so i suppose that could be a problem. but ive tried adjusting it all over the place and the 2-3 shift doesnt change....

What 2nd gear servo are you using here? Can you put up a picture of the valve body plate hole size modifications? xlwhellraiser, what 2nd gear servo are you using?

MY Tv cable also doesnt ratchet when I try to adjust it, so I baby the tranny on the 2-3 shift. If I am barely on the gas pedal the 2-3 shift is very firm, jerks the whole car. THe more I am on it, the softer it gets. I am fixing to order a new TV cable, because I hate to run without properly adjusted cable.
Now, that I think of it. My tranny even with the kit usually shifts sloppy at WOT. It shifts like it catches...than pulls. It doesn't slip, its just slow... with less pressure it shifts better. I had the valve body out and cleaned. I had a tranny shop install the kit for me, and they set it by B&M (the pressure) and the TV cable was almost all the way in. I did not like this since it held first gear too long, and I thought that this might have spelled doom for my tranny. So I put it back to where I used to have it and it ran fine and shifted fine.
I guess my only question for ya Dana is what would make the tranny shift better at lower speeds and make it shift crappy at full throttle?? SOmething has to be missadjusted.

my car shifts just fine 1-2 but from 2-3 it kinda hangs when its shifting for about 1.5 seconds then shifts, i dont mean to tredd on ur post, but im having same problem without installing aftermarket parts. Also if im driving on the highway put it into OD it wont go into od, till i give it 1/4 pedel the rpms will drop if im lucky it will stay sometimes it slips out or wont go in period to OD, then once i get in town and its been in OD, my 1-2-3 kinda wind out, and downshifting is rough, could these be related or anyone have any idea whats up ?? i have another transmission, but would like to know the problem to fix it instead of replacing it ^^ thanks, seems like could be something in the computer thats just my guess.......

First of all, if you read any of the shift kits description they always talk about the 700r4's 2-3 flare up. I've had a slipping tranny and mine just does not feel like its slipping. It sure hangs in neutral for 200-300rpms but it catches 3rd and it runs fine.
The reason for the 2-3 flare up is not known to me. Other than pressure, I would think that either the servo or the governor are not adjusted right.
Still, the TV cable could be a big culprit too.

yea thats what it totaly feels like, i dunno if there is a shift kit or anything on the car bought it for 1400 from a crack head, he did some work to it, but i have no clue, yea it drives fine, 1-2 awesome 2-3 that lil hang up then it goes :/ just curious cuz i know its not right
