help me pick a gear
Right now with my 700r4 and 3.27 gears the car goes through the traps at 4100rpms what gear would i need to go throught at 5000-5500 rpms? 3.73's or 4.10's? My car has a tire diameter of 26.0 if it helps.

Re: help me pick a gear
4100 rpm/3.27=1253.82
1253.82 x 3.73 = 4676.75 rpm
1253.82 x 4.10 = 5140.67 rpm
All else being equal 4.10s should put you through the traps at 5140 rpm.
Of course all else won't be equal, but 4.10s should give you what you want with a little room to grow.

Re: help me pick a gear
Unless you only want to drive it at the track i wouldnt put anything bigger than a 3.42 behind a 700R4. I have 3.73s and a T-56 and even with 2 more gears to play with its still a bit tall for my liking. 1st gear is a joke, 2nd is a smoke show, and by 3rd it starts to settle down. When i had my 700R4 in there i was turning about 3500-4000rpm on the interstate. Waaay to much for a daily driver. Esp with gas prices today.
I think some 3.42s would suit you quite well. After all TPI is a slug after 4500rpm anyway.....

My mistake i just saw that youre running a carb!

Re: help me pick a gear
with more gear, you will pick up speed.. most likely in your case.. i picked up 3mph switching from a 3.89 to a 4.30.. but then again, the pick up was with switchin from drag radials to slicks and a tad higher jetting..
i would say for you, go 3.73's.. unless your car pulls to your redline (5500), then go 4.10..
