stock transmission
stock transmission
I have in mind to build my 85 IROC to about 300 hp (yes I know its a 305) but it can be done. My transmission was rebuilt a year ago so I consider it to be in good condition. My question is those of you that have added power to older IROCs how much power will the stock transmission hold up to? And for how long? Thanks.

Re: stock transmission
Not all rebuilds are created equal. A properly built 700R4 in an 87+ case can hold a good deal of power.

Re: stock transmission
My IROC had about 60,000 miles on it when I put a single fogger nozzle in the rubber in front of the throttle body. Tranny lasted about a month. Maybe 240 hp total.
Since yours if fairly fresh, it might go 2 months. lol
I thought I was hot sh*t going from 15.90s to 15.0s on a 50 shot, until my friend pointed out that I was the only guy in town who couldn't go a 14 on nitrous.
