Shift kit + stall convertor installation price

A local shop quoted me $300 to drop transmission and 2-3 hours of installation at $60 per hour to install transgo reprogramming kit, corvette servo, .500 boost valve, and a new stall. Does that like a fair price, around $500 labor. None of the prices include the parts which I am buying seperately but they do guarentee their work, but not the parts...

Sounds about right. $60/hr is a cheap shop rate compared to what I saw last ($85/hr in Birmingham). So basically 2.5 hrs to drop the trans, 2.5 hrs to install the trans back in the car and 2-3 hours to install the parts.

If it takes them 5 hours to R&R a transmission, I'd find another shop.

Ditto. Dropping the tranny dosn't take two and a half hours, nor does installing it. And a B&M Shift Kit (can't speak for a Trans-Go) can be installed by yourself, while the car is on jackstands, in a parking lot. Trust me. I know. Also, I've read that you can install the vette servo without dropping the tranny, and the boost valve can be changed while you do the shift kit. The only thing you *need* to drop the tranny for is the new TC, and it doesn't seem like it'd be all that difficult. Might need a taller set of jackstands. :P

They're probably looking at the shop manual that tells them how long it takes to remove and reinstall a transmission for that year model car. Most all shops do that just like the dealer whether it takes them that long or not.

It's still only about 2 hours by the book, IIRC.
