to be honest, i'm not that good at manual shifting. however that doesn't stop the urge to run a manual in the t/a i'm building this winter.

originaly i wanted a 4 speed but yea, after research, it ain't happening cheaply.

i don't want a t56, gears don't match TPI at all.

soo, for cheap im thinkin t5. but t5's break.

i want to run mid 13's on street tires, i'm going to start sourcing replacement transmissions and keep em on the side, learn how to shift properly and never bolt on slicks. will i be able to beat my 2.0 60 ft with a slightly modified 350, without blowing the t5? keep in mind, amatuer driver, who knows to NOT powershift(a tenth of a second in the 1/4 vs hours swapping a trans after the tow home, you pick) but who plans on making this suspension hook a bit better (lca's,torque arm,etc.) what do you think?? Is the t5 strong enough for me?

 

not an expert on the t5 at all, but from what ive seen, the weakness is 3rd gear, so the first 60' shouldnt be a problem, just a bit further down the track.

what kind of a budget do you have? A tko 5 speed will work wonders, but will cost a bit.

im selling my camaro in the spring for roughly 3000, i need that to pay for
1)a cam, headers and a rebuild of the tpi system and some assorted goodies(hopin for 300 hp and 400 ft lbs)
2)a wideband 02
3)brake system upgrade to 1le or c4
4)a lil paint work but nothing big, mostly touch up
5)alot of interior stuff, new carpet headliner etc
6)this swap

i'm going to have to sell some GTA stuff too, seats will go first probably, too bad their comfy as hell, but costing me a tenth of a second since they weigh in at 175 lbs with the pump and all.

i have a trans sourced but no clue what kind of life it's had. my dad has a scrap car business so i ought to come across more then a few replacement transmissions.
