If it's original and a 10 bolt, 26.
Unfortunatly though, there's no way to tell for sure without pulling one out and counting.

Re: Questions About My Rear End
No.
The flange where the backing plates mount to the axle tube is different.
But, 10-bolt backing plates are easy to find. And, if your 9-bolt ones are for the good brakes (PBRs), people will pay good money for them. Most everybody that has the crappy Saginaw system would LOVE to trade up to the PBRs, but those plates are somewhat scarce, being a 1 year only deal (89).
If you have the Saginaw system, you'd be better off leaving what you have on there; and keep looking for PBRs.

Re: Questions About My Rear End
PBR: aluminum, 89-up, both calipers mount behind the axles
Saginaw: cast iron, 88-back, one caliper mounts in front of the axle and the other behind
Pretty easy to tell apart, really.
