will a 700r4 that is meant for a 4wd truck fit in my trans am
i bought a trans awhile ago for my 4wd truck but turned out i didnt need a tranny and i sold the truck and i still have trans it is a brand high performance tranny will it swap right in or will the tailshaft be different

The tailshafts are different.

the output shaft is too short to work in your trans am and the tail housing is different. you would have to take it apart to get the right parts in there.

i consider it easy, but i work with transmission parts and have built a few 700r4's. if you have never been into a transmission before, it can be a challenge. it's not rocket science or anything but "easy" is a term relative to experience and abillity.

the shaft and tail housing are cheap for factory replacements especially if you do the work yourself. the only aftermarket shaft i have heard of or seen is a $400 shaft from patc that is supposed to be stronger than the factory shaft but you have to be running one big motor to break the factory one. the housing itself i only know of the factory one.
