700r4 front trans plate..thing.

I decided to try and change the front pump seal on my trans and managed to gouge the hell out of the aluminum behind it in attempts to get it out. Anyway im trying to pull the front i guess pump plate off in hopes that i can replace the race behind where the front seal sits. I removed all the bolts off fo it...i dont need some puller to get this thing out do i?

You need to drop the trans pan, remove the filter and the lock up solenoid. Also, if you have an aux valve body model, you must remove the tube that runs from the front of the pan, to the rear of the pan. Then, a special puller is used to remove the pump.

I hate to be the one to tell you but there isn't a race you can change that is the actual pump housing.

Re: 700r4 front trans plate..thing.

there is a race there...i got it out 2 nights ago. The front plate can be removed and there is a race that sits in there...you can punch it out and put a new 1 in. They recommand doing it when you change the front seal anyway. While i was in there i decided to add a shift kit heh..Just can't leave **** alone i guess. By the way that pump comes out really easy...just took a pry bar at the edge of the pump from the inside and just gave it a SMALL nudge..and it popped right out...i could have probably pushed it out with my fingers...didnt take any effort at all.

Well there isn't a race, I think you are actually talking about a bushing. That is for the converter hub. That can be removed.
