pulling axl shaft

pulling axle shaft
i cant seem to get the axle shafts out. what do i need too do?
take of the entrie drumbrake set up?
all i have off its the drum

No, you can leave the entire brake system in place, axcept for the drum.
Take off the rear end cover; turn the carrier to where you can see the little screw; use a 5/16" 6-point box-end wrench - NOT a 12-point, NOT a socket, NOT anything else besides a 5/16" 6-point box-end wrench - to remove the screw; the ¾" diameter shaft will be able to slide out; the small gears will fall out if you're not careful; once the shaft is out, push an axle in; the C-clip will fall out; that axle will fall out; repeat for the other axle. There's nothing holding it "together", it just can't quite fall apart until you take out that little screw.
