TH400R stays in Reverse when shifter is put in Park
My 92 TA will not go into park. Although the selector moves to the "P" position and it feels like it's in park its really in reverse. When I start the car I keep my foot on the brake and all is well (I have 2200 stall converter) but as soon as I take my foot off the brake it start to move.
When I park the car and turn it off (with selector in "P") the transbrake does not engage and I have to make sure I have the parking brake on or the car will roll back.
That said, any suggestions before I take it to my local Transmission shop? Could it be a linkage has come loose or broke? Other than this problem the transmission performs as it should.

is this the factory one that is in your TA or did you swap it out? a th400 is not an a4. also, trans brakes do not hold a vehicle from moving in the park position, the parking gear/rod/and lever do that.
