I purchased this 92 firebird conv. about 4 months ago to restore. I have drive the vehicle just a few times. The engine starts and runs fine as I can tell. Basically as I drive the car it seems as if the transmission constantly is shifting around or eratically shifting when in overdrive on the gear shifter. When in drive I noticed that it didn't do it. Then it started doing it in drive. I got a ses light, code vehicle speed sensor witch made sense since the speedo was not working. I replaced it with a new one. now the speedo works, but the problem is still happening. In overdrive basically the car constantly shifts and never will go above 2000 rpms. also when it shifts the rpms go down. I doesn't seem to do it in drive anymore.

Any ideas?

Is it a tranny problem or could it be engine?
