i cant decide whether to get a 3000 stall or a 3500 stall. i am ready to drop a lot of money on a vigilante, so the price wont be an issue. this is a street driven car, so i am going to need extremely good street manners, but i also want to make it as fast as possible at the drag strip(i haven't gotten there yet).
any insights would be greatly appreciated

Re: converters
Chech out PTCRACE.com PTC makes some of the best convertets out there. They sell transmissions also, damn strong ones. They won't kill you on price either. Give them a call with all your specs on the car and they will build you what you NEED,not just sell you what you THINK you want.

Re: converters
What's the rest of the car? CID, heads, cam, induction, gears, weight, usage, what does it do now that you don't like or want more of or want to change?

Yeah, I wish more people would check out PTC also. I have several friends running them at the track with much success. They are a great company to work with and have good prices.
You get a custom built converter for a off the shelf price.
Re: converters
I hate to be the one to tell you this, but buying a converter for a future plan is like buying a monster roller cam and dropping it in a there till you get the heads/intake/etc that you want. - That said, even the 3k would be really high for a stock L98. - Either buy something spec for what you have or maybe slightly more, or wait till you can afford the whole package. If you buy something spec'ed for a future plan, set it on a shelf till that plan comes together.

Like I said, what do you NEED? Not what do you THINK you want.
For now a 500 over stock el cheapo would be more than apropriate. When you get ready to make the plunge call PTC and have them build a good piece for ya.

Re: converters
I like to suggest a 2800 stall, Mickey thompson Radials on your stock rims, and a 100 shot of nitrous...This makes a stock combo FLY
BUT if you're doing a head/cam setup it's different. The powerband will not die at 5000rpm, it should pull hard to 6000'ish. I wouldn't do a 2800 then, I'd do a 3400. PTC can help you for sure, goodluck!

Re: converters
i appreciate everyones advice. i think ill just keep it stock for now, and wait until i do the heads, intake and cam. id rather do it rite the first time, i hate creating double work.
