HELP!! is my 700 calling it quits??

HELP!! is my 700 calling it quits??

so anyways i took my gta out for a spin today , i was driving it and i decided to see the pep of it so i gun it 1st to 2nd shift is heavy revved shifted to 2nd at 5600-5800 rpms , 3rd gear the car will race high rpms but have no power car can not pass 70 mph the engine is just racing with no power put to the wheels , the car shifts fine with normal driving all the way to OD , things ive done to the car were replaced the steering column it has a linkage that goes to the shifter could i of messed that up? , fluid pan flush and i adjusted the TV cable any ideas please help!!! many mechanics say i may of knocked my shift linkage out of alignment , but wouldnt i lose OD if it was?

Changing the fluid might have killed it. Tranny fluid builds up it's own shifting enhancers (ie worn bits of tranny) - when it's changed out for fresh fluid, then their are no more, and it can slip.

Double check the TV cable adjustment, and fluid level. It can take alot of fluid, since some drains out of the TC and takes awhile to get pumped back in there.

yea fluid level is ok , what about lucas? , how much does it really cost for a rebuild of could i get a used low miles tranny installed for cheap?

also i noticed that when i jacked the wheels up i put the car in N and the tires still spun up to about 15 mph is that normal?

your gear shifter is off...make sure the tranny and the shifter are in sinc. This causes fluid to move in the valvebody when it should not...when you are in neutral, your tires should not be moving on thier own...
