Moser 12 bolt for 2200 bucks?

The shop can get me a moser 12 for 2200 bucks to his door. Plus 120 bucks tax. Setup with a good posi. Is this a good deal? The guy wouldnt steer me wrong with parts, just wondering if anyone knows of a better place.....

Id rather a 12 but if I could find a good Ford 9 for around 1500, I would settle for that. Can't seem to find much on the web. Spohn is right up the road but their price isnt as good plus it would still need shipped from the warehouse to where I could pick it up.

I would say thats an avarage good deal. I have been looking at them, depending on what you want depends alot on price.
For 2200 that should be a pretty stout 12 bolt.
Try to find out whats in it.

Yeah, that's about what a new fabbed 12-bolt will go for.

Not sure that Moser makes them for these cars though; they might have 9" only for them. Strange and Currie, maybe others, do 12-bolts. IOW, somebody might have some disconnected facts somewhere.

They do. Looks like itll be going on the plastic in a couple weeks then. Gotta have it done by april. The stock 2.73 rear is already making popping sounds with only 4 test drives on it....those gears and my 29" tires really make the stall loose.

$2200+$120 tax+$250 Brakes+ $15 paint+ $150 labor +$100 Misc= $2585 total is about average for a 12-bolt that in most cases is overkill.

Re: Moser 12 bolt for 2200 bucks?

LT1 brakes should cost a little less than that, labor is free, no misc. Overkill yes. So is a 4340 crank in most cases. If I had it my way Id go with a 8.5 10 bolt, but to build one and get the cast iron welded, would end up costing close the same, and Id have to do a lot of work.

What would you recommend?

Moser does make a 12 bolt with the TA mount for 3rd and 4thgen cars. I've had my eye on one for quite a while.

Re: Moser 12 bolt for 2200 bucks?

mosers 12 bolt is problematic. the 4 little bolts that hold the torque arm on, in place of the through-bolt stock setup, tend to loosen and can damage the rear and the torque arm. I was going to grab the moser 12bolt, but a bit before i ordered it a guy on NJFBOA had his torque arm bracket break because the bolts came loose. I would go with the strange 12 bolt or the moser 9"

Re: Moser 12 bolt for 2200 bucks?

If you are worried about the screw on torque arm, just drill the tapped holes thru on the housing and use bolt & locknuts. Simple solution.
