Governor Install

For some odd reason, I cannot get my governor to go all the way back into the trans so I can install the cover. It needs to go in almost an inch more, but it wont budge. When I put my finger in the gear hole I can feel what appears to be a nipple.... which the governor gear slides onto. Are there any tricks to getting this thing to go in so I can put the cover on and drive?

Okay, I'll try that. Do you think pieces of the old gear that broke apart in the tranny could be preventing the new gear from installing?

Re: Governor Install

I tried the petrolium jelly and with tons of rotations, it still wouldn't go all the way in.

Re: Governor Install

I have a thought that could be holding me up. I know that the TH350 governor looks similar to the 700R4 governor, right? So what if I'm trying to install the TH350 one into my 700R4. Would it cause it to stick out about an inch from being fully seated in the governor housing?

I think I may have been shipped the wrong governor.

Hmmm...
