just to clear my head

when my buddies and i pulled my old engine we did not disconnect the torque converter from my 700r4 and we just yanked the torque converter out (tranny still in car).. how bad is that? i installed a new torque converter by filling it with oil, then putting it on the crank shaft turning it until it clicked it.. there was a little play in it but then i bolted it up to the new motor no problems...

My question is how bad was it thatwe literally forced the torque converter out of the tranny?

Probably not a problem, as long as it didn't wack the seal. The converter itself, the pump, and the bushing, wouldn't be bothered by that at all.

Re: just to clear my head

Are you saying you left the converter bolted to the flex plate and pulled it out with the engine? If so probably no prob, had a buddy always did it that way but I never have due to I have heard it's a possibility for the weight of the converter (being full of tranny fluid and all) hanging off the flex plate to crack the flex plate.
