Clutch fork Question

After a T5 swap, on my 82 Z28, the piston coming out of the slave unit to operate the clutch fork is a 30 degree angle into the recess on the clutch fork. The clutch fork looks too long. Is this normal?? I do not have anything to compare to and do not know if the clutch fork is the right one. Any help on this subject would be great.

Re: Clutch fork Question

Did you hook the clutch fork onto the pivot ball inside the bell housing? My T5s always had the piston out of the slave fairly straight, nowhere near a 30 degree angle.

Re: Clutch fork Question

Thanks, that is what I thought. The clutch fork is in the ball. I have driven the car two two seasons now. But I have the T5 out for reapirs, and the slave unit did not look right. This would be time to fix it right. I guess I will need to find another clutch fork and see if there is a difference. Thanks. PS know anybody who has an extra clutch fork??

Re: Clutch fork Question

the clutch ball pivot studs have been known to back out . ( happened to me ) they can be tightened with tranny installed ( PITA , but possible ) be sure to clean and use locktite . worst case would be T/O bearing installed wrong on clutch fork . i think sofa recently posted pics. of throw out bearing installation . possible problem ?? good luck .

Re: Clutch fork Question

Tanny is currently out of the car. Clutch worked fine, just did not look right. I only drive the car in the summer 1,000 - 1,800 miles per year. Thought if I needed to rreplace now would be a good time. Thanks

Here's an ebay link for the correct, hydraulic clutch fork. Price is really good too. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Clutc...mZ260200412542
