Trans problem or something else??
I recently purchased a used crate 305 TBI and 700r4 for my '91 RS. I got it installed and running last weekend. When I rev the engine with it in park it hesitates and doesn't have the quick snap in the throttle that I am use to with a carbureted engine. When I put the car in gear it will roll fine at idle, but when I hit the gas the engine will hesitate and sputter, and even die if I push the gas too fast. Any ideas? I'm having trouble with the VSS and getting my speedo to work. I was told that the VSS could cause to torque converter lock up to malfunction. I also believe that there may be a problem with the fuel system. I have replaced the fuel filter, but that's it. Trans or fuel problem? Thanks!

Really doesn't sound like your converter is locking. You could unplug the lockup connector on the side of the tranny to eliminate it as a potential problem, but more than likely it's going to be an electronic or fuel problem.

I've talked to you before sofakingdom about my trans and a prob with the VSS. Since you advised me I've purchased another complete engine and trans. I tried splicing in the wires that teh previous owner had cut out of the harness for the TCC and VSS and noticed that there are TWO purple wires. I don't know which goes where! I've tried the wires both ways and my speedo refuses to work. I searched old threads and found a diagnostic flow chart for checking the VSS and buffer. I'll do that this weekend. If you guys have any other pointers I'll gladly take them.
