i think i messed up

i have been looking for a posi carrier for my 82 camaro and on ebay i finally found one so i got really excited and bought it not realizing that its for a 9 bolt rear end..... i have a ten bolt..... i just saw that it had the splines i needed (26) and it was a good working posi carrier out of a 84 camaro.... did i just waste my money????
john

this is the discription off ebay...
Up for auction is a factory 9 bolt Borg Warner limited slip differential carrier. Parted from a 1984 Camaro Z28 with a 5.0L engine. The diff seemed to be working fine before I removed it. This one had 26 spline axles and a 3.27 gear ratio. This unit will fit all the above listed vehicles as long as you have a 9 bolt differential cover. Can be used with many different ratio gear sets. I would recommend checking with various gear set vendors to see what is currently available. The bearings, bearing cups and bearing spacers are included. The bearings seem to be in good shape, but I would probably replace them anyway. The bearings and cups are marked for correct installation if you decide to use them. The ring gear bolts are included. Everything you need for an easy installation! If your shipping address is not in the lower 48 States, you MUST email me before bidding or your bid will be cancelled. Thanks for looking and have a good day!

Re: i think i messed up

I know the ring gear on the 9 bolt is 7.75 and the other difs are 7.625 or 7.5 and if i'm remembering correctly the 9 bolt also has different posi unit. However if you would like an axle to match your posi i have one that is fully POR15ed that I would be happy to sell you

Re: i think i messed up

9-bolts don't have 26-spline axles.

9-bolts weren't available in 84.

Therefore, if both of those things are true, it's not a 9-bolt part.

Post a pic. Show what's inside the little window. Hopefully it's not an Eaton Gov-Lock.

Hard to say, since the description that they gave, doesn't match any thing that exists.

I guess you'll find out when it shows up. Have your hardened steel jock strap ready, just in case.

We'll see when it arrives... until then, idle speculation is worthless.
