Re: strange enginerring

When you order a differential from companies such as Strange, you custom order it to your specifications.

A 12 bolt usually has 30 spline axles although bigger axles can be ordered. 30 spline axles are more than enough for the typical car. Gear ratio depends what you need. Someone may want one with mild 3.50 gears for the street. A high reving, full drag only car may want 5.13 gears. A street car will want a posi while a drag only car will want a spool.

After the complete list of items is known, a price for the complete diff can be figured out. You can estimate around $2500 complete with brakes. You can also buy a bare housing with axles and install your own gears and posi.

Third gens don't use "traction bars". The coil spring, torque arm suspension doesn't need traction bars although there are improvements to be made to the factory suspension.

Re: strange enginerring

$2500 is what i was looking to spend so that's cool.i appreciate the info.i was thinking with going with 4.56 gears, what do you think.also what is the widest tire you can get to fit.looking to get some dragslicks back there, and i'm trying to get the best time out of the setup without backhalfing the car.mid 11 should be doable with 550-600 hp with good hook, right?

Re: strange enginerring

Gear selection depends on a lot of things.

Camshaft profile, engine operating range, transmission choice, tire height.
