TH350 Possible Problem

drove my 88 camaro for the first time yesterday for a short distance, and got home opened up the hood to check the fluids, and seen there was transmission fludid on the motor, and on the hood where the fluid level check stick is, what would make it do that? too much fluid? it shifted just fine end everything. any help would be appreciadted its a carbed 305 with th350 trans

Did you have your dipstick in? What is your fluid level on the trans?

The dipstick is in but the handle is bent over so the hood can shut, leaving the hole exposed. The fluid level is ok, not low enough to add any yet. yesterday was the 1st time id really driven the car since i got it last year, the guy i got it from just sat the engine in the bay, i had to bolt it all down hook everything up since it was converted from v6 computer to v8 non computer, i guess he just rigged everything together so im having to fix it as i go, even had to fix the title!!.
