tranny does not bolt up =( Help needed.
So here is the deal. I am in process of swapping l98 into my 89 RS. For right now, I need to run my orignal t-5 (from v6) in the car, since I can't afford a better transmission at the moment as a broke college student. Today I dropped the engine in, and everything went well until I started to bolt up the transmission. The problem is that tranny does not come flush with the bellhousing, there is like a 1/4 inch gap, and it just wont go in... I don't know what could possibly cause that, I even tried it twice! Tranny lines up fine, I can get bolts in the holes, but as soon as I come to that point, it just won't go. =(
I am not totally new to engine swap, I swapped 305 in for the v6, and I did use this same transmission and housing (had to get different clutch ad housing for v8), so I know it worked before, just have this problem with one piece main seal engine.
Any input will be appreciated, I am stressing out big time, I have 2 weeks until mu co-op session starts, and finals are next week... I don't want to end up without car...

dang... I must of got lucky with the 305 swap because it bolted right up ( it was old 305, 83 to be exact). I guess 1 piece rear main seal and 2 piece make such a huge difference in transmissions.

So, I finally got the car running. Back to transmission. Since I am using v6 t-5 tranny, I had to shorten it a bit to fit it in. Now i have a problem. When I am in neutral, the car is just fine, but it will not go into gear if its running. It seems like the clutch is not releasing. If I have a clutch all the way to the floor and try to put it in gear the car starts to roll. I don't think it is the cylinder since the rod does travel required distance (hydrolic clutch). What is your input on this? Do I need to cut it shorter? I only cut off about 1/4 inch.
