82 firedbird:200c to 200r4 will it work?
the 200c in my 82 firebird is about ready to kick the bucket and i need a new trans. i currently have a 200r4 laying in my garage from an 87 monte carlo. was wondering what it would take to get the od trans into my car. im guessing the tv cable and speedo gear are the same. im guessing the mount wll need to be moved back a bit as well. i herd a drive shaft from a 700r4 car will fit right. only problem iven senn is the lack of torque arm mount . where would i get something to mount a torque arm? am i correct on all this info? if not please give me advise. thanks in advance.

Only issue is with an '82, the OEM subframe doesn't have the rear holes, so you'll have to drill and mount nuts inside it for the back two bolt.
I believe you'll need a TH200-4R TV cable.
The driveshaft is different http://www.spohn.net/?action=product&pid=1103
Not sure about the speedometer gear.

Re: 82 firedbird:200c to 200r4 will it work?
does anyone out there know if theres any tallshafts that would fit on to the 200r4 that have a torqe arm mount? maybe the 200c tallshaft perhapes? id rather not invest eather the money to put a 700r4 in to this car nore spend the 415$ to get the tranny mount/torqe setup. id realy love if some one could give me alittle more insight in to this thanks.

sorry ive seen it spelled both ways. im not to concerened with the stress to the houseing as i am the fact that i would be spending 415 bucks on a car thats not worth spending the money on. i just would like to know if there is a way i can make the trans i have fit in the car i have as cheaply as possable with junkyard parts. its that or i have to find a decent 700r4 and most of the parts to make that fit and then i still have a tranny i cant use.

The turbo TA's used the TH200-4R. The chances of finding the parts from one of those to get this tranny to work is next to nil.
You might have a tranny you can't use, but you don't have a worthless tranny.
