T5 Swap Questions
I am planning on swapping in a T5 over my 700r4. Will the driveshaft from the 700r4 work with the T5? What other parts will work also? Any good tips for this installation? Also, are the T5's as bad as everybody makes them out to be? I hear the cases arent very strong on them. Is that all thats wrong with them?

Re: T5 Swap Questions
My engine is a 305 TPI with a cam in it and some other small upgrades to come (headers etc). Do you think the t5 will give me any problems?

A search should provide the info you need.

Re: T5 Swap Questions
I agree a search is best, you learn a lot of reading all the posts. But sometimes it’s not real easy to put all the info together into a short list. So, I’ve got a little time before work so here’s a list for the change over. I’m sure I’ve missed something, but I believe I’ve hit the high points.
-Pilot bushing
-Flywheel and flywheel bolts (not flex plate bolts. Mr. Gasket# 912 about $9)
-Clutch/pressure plate/throw out bearing and pressure plate bolts (special bolts-Mr.
Gasket part# 910 about $7. They do not come with a new clutch)
-Bell housing/clutch fork/transmission mounting bolts
-Starter (auto starters are different from manual starters)
-Clutch master and slave cylinder, clutch reservoir
-Brake/clutch pedal setup
-Transmission/shifter
-Possibly a manual trans cross member (not sure if they are the same as an auto)
-Manual shift plate and boot for your console (depending on what console you have)
You will have to wire up the clutch safety switch on the new pedal assembly. I’d look at the donor car you get the pedals from and see how it’s hooked up, maybe even get a part of the wiring harness. Also auto cars generally have much higher rear end ratios, like 2.73’s. Look for a manual car, possibly a 6 cyl. car with a stick. I found one with a 3.42 in it. It will be miserable to drive with a 2.73 rear gear and a manual trans.
